The infusion of amateur (read: unpaid) Web comic artists in the last five or so years has helped reinvigorate daily comics, at least for the Internet-savvy (who can now indulge in theme-specific and
esoteric comics that would never make it in a newspaper world of "target demographics").
It also increases the competition. How much does it suck for a nationally syndicated 20-year veteran when
his comic is done
three days earlier by a Web comic artist?
