Weekend Update
I spent most of the weekend packing and moving, although I did put
the second layer on
the walls of the master bedroom (and
it turned out better than my original impression). I had some problems starting out (I applied it way too think on the first chunk of wall and actually had to repaint it the original color, wait for it to dry and then reapply the second color again). It's still darker than it probably should be, but it's an attractive finish. I bought some wallpaper border tonight that I haven't put up yet, and I'm a quart short of finishing the ceiling in the same cream color as the blue bedroom.
It rained today, which gave me my first chance to confirm that
the garage does, indeed, leak. I already knew that from the inspection report; I just hadn't seen it yet. Luckily it's the garage and not the house (certainly the better option between the two), but it's still something I'll be having my dad take a look at.
Scott and Lisa dropped off
a table and two chairs that they're loaning me until I get my own furniture, which was really nice of them. I've put them in the breakfast nook for the time being; now I have somewhere to sit (seriously, I've been eating on the floor).
Speaking of furniture, I bought a living room set at
NFM on Saturday (along with some bunk beds and a headboard I bought last week) that I'm hoping they'll have ready for pickup next weekend when my family is visiting with a trailer. To be honest I haven't been impressed with NFM's competence so far (they've already botched one of my orders once and they were supposed to call me about the bunk beds over a week ago). NFM had a one-day sale that had some decent bargains, so I splurged.

Thursday Update
I sanded the walls on the master bedroom and cleaned the walls with a sponge on Wednesday night after work, and then (after spending two hours changing my address with all of the companies that have my address) actually
got around to painting it tonight. I have to admit that at this point I'm not that thrilled with it. The paint didn't cover very well and
it's a more "dull" green than the forest green I had hoped for (although it's not dry yet in the picture, so I'm hoping it looks better dry). I'm putting a faux finish on it in a lighter color so I'm not that unhappy with it, but if I were leaving it as is I'd definitely have to buy another gallon and put a second coat on. I also broke my edger. :P Tomorrow night, faux coat. That should make the room brighter (Lisa's grimacing at the dark color, I know).
I also discovered that, contrary to my previous assumption, my bathroom does, indeed, have outlets. They're
built into the bottoms of the light fixtures, and I'm fairly certain they're *not* bathroom-rated outlets (very old and certainly not grounded). But, that means the wiring is already there, so hopefully my dad can install some better outlets without a lot of work.
